Beer and bats, f*ck yeah, what’s not to love? This place opened in November 2012 and is a paradise for both beer and bat fanatics. If you’re not really into the keg thing then you’ll admire this place for its quirky, industrial feel and for all the hot, hipster Scots that like to rock out here.

The split-level interior is peppered with plenty of comfortable nooks, so you can really nestle in. The bat features heavily in the design and even the beer taps are fashioned to resemble the nocturnal beast. Check out the taps in the toilets too, they’re beer pulleys, these guys have really gone all out with the bat/tap/keg theme and it’s a head f*ck we’re into.

The impressive selection of beers consists of fourteen keg lines and six cast lines and changes constantly. The dudes at The Hanging Bat work with independent microbreweries who have a passion for beer and the hot, enthusiastic bar staff can explain exactly what ingredients have gone into each bev, nice.

Make like BarChick and experiment with five quarter pints for a tenner. You get to keep bottle cap chips for each beer in a Hanging Bat glass, take them home and keep 'em on the mantelpiece with all your other trophies of achievement.
