From the same eccentrically-minded lot behind the museumy Pavilhao Chines, Foxtrot has a rather unfathomable mix of early 20th century Lisbon bar and traditional British boozer; we’re talking billiards room, art deco touches, lovely fireplaces and an extensive selection of whiskies and gin which are, of course, mandatory staples of anywhere professing to have a British edge. Impressive comfort is in high order; antique bits, high backed velvet chairs, and brass trinkets which collectively transform this Lisbon bar into a colonial drinking parlour.

It’s another bell-ringer which simply adds to the clandestine, speakeasy atmosphere. Just like a manor house of times gone by. there are separate rooms for smokers and those of cleaner living - cigars and brandies in the smoking room/

In the style that Lisbon does so well, it’s lively and convivial rather than upbeat and overbearing. The crowd stay late, drinking chatting and laughing as the work their way through the cocktail list and whisky collection.
