The Gutter

BARCHICK SAYS

When we woke up after a night out here we had bruised knees and a dirty face - sure signs of a good time. The Gutter is a dive bar cross bowling alley for late, messy nights, where you won’t be winning any prizes for your game. This is the rough’n’ready alternative to the swanky Brooklyn Bowl around the corner.

They’ve got eight original 1970s lanes, complete with dusty wooden floors and old style scoring machines that look like you should play Pacman on them. If you don’t fancy a game, then the bar area has plenty of seating and comfy leather bar stools. The prices are cheap (USD 7 per game with a good, long happy hour, too), and they’re open every night until 4am with people getting increasingly raucous on pitchers of craft beer. Weekends have DJs and live bands. The staff here have near saintly degrees of tolerance, as we learnt.
