BARCHICK SAYS

The reward for finding this hidden Parisian hotspot is a feast fit for a king

Tourist in Paris? We'd say you have as much chance of finding this place by chance as you have of finding an Uber driver that doesn't drive like they're in Fast & Furious.

This hidden treasure trove of a dining cellar can be found in a courtyard at the end of a small cobbled street that has led on from a narrow side alley in the 20th. Wax dripping candles on the tables and filament bulbs in the covered courtyard give the restaurant a romantic warm glow. If you're on a weekend in Paris with your beau, this place definitely beats the Eiffel Tower for romance.

The natural and biodynamic wines that line the walls are all from Catalan. If your GCSE French isn't getting you far reading the menu, just ask the sommelier. His English is tops and he'll help you find the perfect plonk to match with your feast of Mediterranean small plates (give the anchovies a spin and definitely order a few rounds of the Bikiki AKA the best cheese and ham toasties you'll ever try!). Once you're done, head next door to the hidden bar, Caché, for a digestif or two. You'll feel like a proper local.
