This place has got a lot going for it. Flavour mastermind and general molecular wundermind Luke Whearty came all the way over from Melbourne’s Der Raum to do his thing here, and now it has cocktails on tap. Nice. They’re keeping it simple: Cuba Libres and G&Ts, but these are just a start, and it keeps service nice and snappy. They also have a range of distilled spirits infused with local botanicals foraged from their rooftop garden terrace, as well as their very own Oxhorn Larger.
Mark Sargaent, former head chef of Claridge’s, oversees the modern British dining room upstairs, so expect big things. Though if you’re only after little things go for the tasty bar snacks – he does them too. The style is mad English manor house (taxidermy squirrels for light fixtures) and the crowd is a funny mix of hipsters and suits (perhaps they’re just hipsters in disguise as office workers). Either way, business shows no signs of slowing down; in fact, they’re already working on another cocktail bar next door.
